A few weeks ago Penn hosted Homecoming. We began Saturday morning with a 5k that wound through Penn's new outdoor space, "Penn Park" and finished with a sprint across the 50 yard line in Franklin Stadium. Later that day we returned to Franklin Stadium for the football game against Princeton, but not before hanging out on College Green for some pregame festivities. We were kind of joking about how we figured an Ivy League school would have gourmet food at their pregame party....and then they did. For $2. It was awesome. It was also really fun to see so many alumni on campus. Being the university that Ben Franklin founded, Penn has a pretty rich tradition. Apparently back in the day, they used to allow alcohol in the stadium. Between the 3rd and 4th quarters of the game they sing Penn's song and there is a line about "toasting" because they used to actually toast with beverages. Now they just throw pieces of toast, as in bread, onto the field. A little strange. Here's some pics from the weekend...
Post run...definitely doing this one again next year.
College Green full of alums!
Awesome food tent, definitely hitting that up next year too.
Penn has a crazy number of back up players. Also, they have a crazy number of seats in their stadium considering how many people attend their games. Would love to see the stadium packed for something.
Ben got a scarf too =)
