4 Years Ago....(11/12/11)

...we got married!
Wedding
But this post is over a month late. It was four years ago on October 7th. I have looked forward to each anniversary, but I especially looked forward to this one. I think it's because we experienced such huge change together this past year and our anniversary was a chance to look back on the year and celebrate God's faithfulness in growing our marriage through that change. Last year for our anniversary, Ben planned a super fun weekend in SF. We stayed at the Sir Francis Drake Hotel and enjoyed a great weekend in the city/Napa. The reason I mention it is because the very next week I returned to that same hotel for an info session hosted by Penn. At the time it was just one of the many schools I was applying to. But it was the only school that hosted an info session. And it just "happened" to be at the same hotel where we had celebrated our marriage the week before. It's cool to look back and realize that now. It really symbolized the start of our transition towards Pennsylvania, before we even knew that was our trajectory.
Our celebration this year involved a nice dinner out at a restaurant on our street on Friday night, breakfast and coffee at home on Saturday morning, a walk through the neighborhood and visiting our farmer's market, a drive out to a farm where we picked our own apples, and making a delicious dinner together at home that evening that included steak, vanilla mashed sweet potatoes, green beans, apple crisp and a wonderful bottle of California wine given to us by my coworker back in San Francisco. Here are some of my favorites from the weekend...

meat: TJ's
sweet potatoes: Clark Park farmer's market
green beans: Reading Terminal market
wine: California, thanks to Greg! (this bottle of wine actually travelled cross country with us in the Yaris...my plan was to christen our new apartment by sharing a glass of good wine but the day we arrived it was just too hot for wine. So I decided to save it for the next special landmark and our anniversary was the perfect occasion.)
