The day before Thanksgiving, Ben turned 30! Thanks to all who contributed to his birthday book, he said he felt very loved =)
The night before we ate some delicious food at Vietnam Cafe, one of our favorite, local restaurants.
The next day we drove down to D.C. to hang out with our good friends for Ben's birthday and Thanksgiving. It was such a relaxing few days filled with delicious food, beautiful weather, and wonderful company. We had such a great time it was hard coming back to Philly to finish up our semester! I can't say enough how much we've loved living close to some of Ben's high school friends.
Kara and Annalise were so sweet to provide some decorations for Ben's celebration...
Annalise even learned the word "happy" in honor of Ben's birthday, so cute.
Hours of fun with the balloons
The next morning was BEAUTIFUL so we went for a walk and even got some football in
Matt and Mara throwing with Annalise
Cheesecloth soaked in butter and wine...
The ladies wondering how this is going to work...
Possibly the best turkey I've had...wine and butter apparently work wonders on turkey.
Ben chose to make a salted caramel apple pie...
Which also turned out nicely =) Good job, Ben!
What a feast!
Followed by Ben's demonstration of how else to use the Angostora Bitters (besides for his apple pie)
Cheers
Book time in the Panda Bear chair
The next day we took a walk through some monuments
Annalise was NOT ok with FDR's dog
But she loved the ducks
We just love this little one
I wish I had taken a picture of all of us! Will have to remember next time. Much thanks to Peter and Kara and Annalise for hosting us and Matt and Mara for hanging out...we loved spending Thanksgiving with you!
Another very cool part of the weekend (and another part I forgot to document with my camera) was hanging out with my high school friend, Amanda Wade, and her fiance, Joshua. I haven't seen her in YEARS and it was sooooo wonderful to catch up! She is getting her PhD in D.C. so hopefully there will be many more opportunities to hang out =)
Back in Philly the winter is definitely setting in. I just have one final to go but Ben has all of his in this upcoming week. We can't wait for this week to be over. On Friday night we were able to escape the books for a date to check out some holiday lights and a to eat a great dinner at Olive Garden (thanks to the gift certificate from Ben's sweet soccer girls-thank you ladies!)
Maybe I would have done better in pharmacology had I chosen a better study partner
The German Market in Love Park...we're just getting warmed up for the real ones =)
The light show at the Wanamaker Building (aka the oldest department store in America)
Just five more finals between the two of us and we are off to Ben's motherland!
